UP. Directors: Pete Docter, director, story; Bob Peterson (co-director), story (with Tom McCarthy for third writer on story); Peterson and Docter: script. Ricky Nierva, production design. Daniel Lopez Muñoz, art design.[1] USA: Walt Disney Pictures (presents), Pixar Animation Studios (as A Pixar Animation Studios Film) (production) / Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures (and most of Earth: distribution), 2009.[2]

Animation, adventure with mildly fantastic elements: not SF. Relevant here for the folk and fantasy motif of helping (in one instance) and threatening talking animals, but with their speech not magical but technological. The technology isn't explained, but there is a bit of dialog referring to it, and the visuals: dog collars allowing us to hear and understand what the dogs are saying, with the collars presumably using some sort of very high-tech of the cybernetic persuasion. The upshot is an image of the generally positive or neutral superimposition of the technological upon the canine.
