McConnell, Frank. The Science Fiction of H. G. Wells. New York: Oxford UP, 1981.

Includes a checklist (only) of works by Wells and an annotated "Select List of Works about H. G. Wells"; limited citations. The discussions contain a couple of errors and perhaps some overly ingenious readings but are well written and stimulating. FM covers most of Wells's works important for the study of the human/machine interface, with some esp. useful comments on The First Men in the Moon and The Time Machine]] and Time Machine's relationships to E. Bellamy's Looking Backward (q.v.), and William Morris' 1890 utopia, News from Nowhere (McConnell, ch. 3).
