Adams, Douglas. The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. New York: Harmony Books, (c) 1980: The [S.F.] Book Club Edition, which appears to be the first edn.

Sequel to Hitchhiker's Guide (q.v.). Less of Marvin, the melancholic robot; fewer machines in general; and more philosophical and theological concerns: the nature of God and the Ultimate Question. Parody of bureaucracy in showing extraterrestrial rejects (many of the bureaucrat persuasion) probably becoming the ancestors of humankind. Subsequent sequels not of immediate relevance.
