See for chapter 18, “Mirrors.” In addition to the introduction of an interstellar transporter device of mirror-like appearance, note the character Jonas (= Jonah), a cyborg in the tradition of The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman, but the injured, repaired, and augmented Jonas started out as a robot, made cyborg by the addition of human parts. Although centrally a robot robot — “You are a machine,” he’s told by the protagonist — and alien to the home planet of the story (he has a good background in the culture of our Earth), Jonas love a human woman.
