In the very near future, brain implants can record someone's entire life, from which a greatly cut-down, edited, and sanitized version can be played at a memorial service and given to the family. Relevant here for the implants, the motif of surveillance, and many images of viewscreens and eyes (with eyes stressed with words, both spoken and written out). Cf. and contrast D. G. Compton's The Continuous Katherine Mortenhoe and the film DEATHWATCH (q.v. under Drama).[1]
