THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, (2014). Marc Webb, dir. Alex Kurtzman et al., script, screen story (see IMDb for details[1]). Mark Friedberg, prod. design. USA: Marvel Enterprises, Columbia Pictures (presents), et al. (prod.) / Columbia Pictures (US theatrical dist.), 2014. 142 min.

This well-stuffed production includes images of threatening high-tech containment, with a good deal of electrical imagery, of Jamie Foxx's Electro, Dane DeHaan in cyborg-ish exoskeleton mechano-servo Green Goblin flying power(ed) armor of the Starship Troopers variety, and Paul Giamatti's Aleksei Sytsevich/Rhino's appearing in the Coda in a very large fighting suit that is imaged as a shiny, angry, metallic rhinoceros-tank with heavy machine guns. A moment of great loss in Peter Parker/Spider-Man's life is associated with the literal clockwork of a huge clock. Cf. and contrast the more thematically significant images of Ripley in the exoskeleton/Power Loader fighting the Alien Queen at the end of ALIENS, and the colonial armed forces in tree-killing power armor and construction/destruction vehicles in AVATAR.

Note also (and potential confusion with) SPIDER-MAN 2 (2004).
