Leayman, Charles D. "Stephen King's 'Monkey's Paw' update a real shocker." Cinefantastique 20.1-2: 104, 119.

Rev. the horror film PET SEMATARY (sic), in which CDL handles the film's speeding trucks as "weapons-on-wheels" that "implicitly evoke a rampant capitalism's oblivious intrusion on family, nature, time, and finally life itself," while the trucks remain quite literal machines (104). Whatever they represent, speeding, heavy trucks — familiar in everyday life — morph into something of a motif in the area SF merges with horror, with the motif brought to a kind of logical conclusion (reductio ad finem) in BATTLETRUCK.[1]
