GHOST RIDER
GHOST RIDER [2]: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE. Mark Neveldine, Brian Taylor, dir. Scott M, Gimple, Seth Hoffman, David S. Goyer, script; story by Goyer. USA/UAE: Columbia Pictures, Hyde Park Entertainment, Imagenation (sic) Abu Dhabi FZ, Marvel Knights (Prod.) / Columbia (US dist.), 2011 (sic); see IMDb for non-US dist. <http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1071875/companycredits>.
IMDb gives for genres for GR2Action/Fantasy/Thriller; whatever it is, it involves the supernatural and is emphatically not science fiction. Interesting here as such a generically-mixed film (and a bit of a mess) that casually presents as part of a fire-fight sequence — with "fire-fight" in a couple of senses — a huge mining machine taken over by Ghost Rider and rendered fiery and demonic. In the Ghost Rider "mythos," the demonic gets complicated, and here Ghost Rider is demonic and a good guy; and the terrifying, dragon-like machine becomes similarly ambiguous.
