Garcia, Frank, and Mark Phillips. Science Fiction Television Series, 1990-2004: Histories, Casts and Credits for 58 Shows. Jefferson, NC: McFarland, 2012. Reissue of volume from 2009.

Reviewed by Dominick Grace, SFRA Review #303 (Winter 2013): pp. 11-13, who says, "It offers precisely what its title suggests: encyclopedia-style entries, alphabetical by title, on SF television shows from the years in question" (p. 11).[1] The "Science Fiction" covered is generally pretty central S.F., with the compilers declining to cover borderline or related efforts "such as superhero shows (e.g. Smallville), non-SF fantastical shows (e.g. Buffy the Vampire Slayer), children’s shows (e.g. Hypernauts) or shows primarily in other genres such as comedy (e.g. Third Rock from the Sun) or crime (e.g. The Sentinel) but with a SF element" (Grace, p. 12).

According to Grace's nonjudgemental judgment: a popular work scholars should find useful, and one that's instructive when read through, not just consulted.
