Music by Computers. Heinz von Foerster and James W. Beauchamp, eds. New York: John Wiley, 1969.

Early book on music generated by computers, cited by D. Hofstadter in the Bibliography section of Gödel, Escher, Bach, q.v., under Background. Hofstadter says the book comes with "a set of four small phonograph records so you can actually hear . . . the pieces described" (748), if you have the proper equipment.[1]
