MAN Diesel Engines (Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-Nürnberg). As of January 2024, images available on line here[1] and here, with discussion and an impressive image of the huge "MAN six-cylinder, double-acting, two-stroke, 12,000 hp, diesel marine engine under construction. The three workers provide a good reference as to the engine’s size."[2]

See for late-19th through early 20th-c. very large machines; compare and contrast (though not much) with machine gigantism in Fritz Lang's METROPOLIS (1926), the 1935 TRANSATLANTIC TUNNEL, E. M. Forster's "The Machine Stops," and other works in the first third or so of the 20th century. The photo of the MAN diesel marine engine — suitable for a battleship — dwarfing men is instructive.
