MAKING MR. RIGHT. Susan Seidelman, dir. USA: Orion, 1987. John Malkovich, Ann Magnuson, stars.

Serious comedy: Pygmalion/Galatea motif with gender reversal and other twists. Malkovich plays a scientist who makes an android robot (also played by Malkovich) who gets humanized by Magnuson's character—who becomes more fully human in turn. Malkovich's scientist does not get humanized, but he does get a happy ending, shot into space. Cf. and contrast Mann and Machine (cited in this Category).
