One of a series of articles in the press on Japanese development and acceptance of humanoid robots for "receptionists, night watchmen, hospital workers, guides, pets and more," sufficiently "more" that the Japanese government has moved "to establish a committee to draw up safety guidelines for the keeping of robots in homes and offices." An official report predicts "that every housefold in Japan will own at least one robot by 2015, perhaps sooner." UPDATE, 6 January 2015: This hasn't happened.
