Finds the film derived from THE TERMINATOR and, like Terminator, "a blend of science fiction and violent action" (32). Comments usefully on RoboCop as "a product tailored for two different groups: those who would react to the satirical script and its underlying messages of social control, corruption and impersonal technology, and those who would enjoy and identify with gun-toting heroes who justifiably waste the bad guys, using maximum firepower" (34). See for reception of the 1987 Verhoeven film.[1]
