Described in the credits blurb as "A celebration of the American automobile presented by the Mark Taper Forum and the Museum of Contemporary Art in connection with the museum's 'Automobile and Culture Show.'" Conceived by Ken Brecher of the Mark Taper Forum and supervised by Madeline Puzo. Rev. Dan Sullivan, "'Carplays' Takes Festival Viewers on a Joy Ride" and Lawrence Christon, "Tinkering With the Imagery and Reality of Cars," Los Angeles Times Monday, 3 Sept. 1984: V.1 and 4. The celebration included music, precision driving, design, and sound effects.
