Dennett, Daniel C. Brainstorms: Philosophical Essays on Mind and Psychology. [Montgomery, VT]: Bradford Books, 1978. (Try also MIT P.)

Fairly early on AI, but a relatively recent entry into the debate over Mechanism vs. Idealism (our formulation), from the approach of Materialism of the physicalist variety (see the entry for R. Descartes[1]). Essays coll. include "Intentional Systems," "(B. F.) Skinner Skinned," "Artificial Intelligence as Philosophy and as Psychology," "Why You Can't Make a Computer that Feels Pain," and "Mechanism and Responsibility." No bibliography, but useful notes and index.
