Antheil, George. Ballet méchanique. First performance ca. 1925-26, with arrangements for performance made in conjunction with Virgil Thomson. Available in Phillips recording of Holland Festival live performance in 1970.

Composer denies that the piece is "an actual description" in pure sound "of factories and machinery" but instead warns of the dangers of mechanistic philosophy and esthetics. See under Drama, BALLET MÉCHANIQUE.
