Alien: Earth
WORKING
Alien: Earth. TV series. Noah Hawley, "created by" and showrunner. Based on ALIEN by Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett, q.v. USA: FX, FX on Hulu, 12 August 2025 f. For further videographic information (etc.), see Wikipedia entry, as of February 2026, here.[1]
Wikipedia entry summarizes the Premise,
The opening of the first episode introduces the series' central premise: humanity's pursuit of immortality through three paths: cyborgs, humans enhanced with biomechatronic body parts; synthetics, fully artificial beings endowed with intelligence; and hybrids, synthetic bodies containing transferred human consciousness.
A serious student of SF notes one episode in which young millionaire Boy Kavalier's scientists "download the consciousnesses of dying children into robot bodies," apparently with no concern for dangers of hacking "by malicious cyborgs" (and other dangers). S/he also calls our attention to that opening episode, which begins "with a careful definition of the differences between robots, cyborgs, and synths" (Facebook communication).
There's a highly professional Fandom wiki, which (as of February 2026) tells us that in the series
Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold. Cyborgs and synthetics both exist alongside humans. The status quo is changed when the CEO of Prodigy unlocks a new technological advancement: hybrids (humanoid robots infused with human consciousness). The first hybrid prototype named Wendy marks a new dawn in the race for immortality.[2]
