A BOY AND HIS DOG. L. Q. Jones, dir. USA: LQJaf, 1975. Based on the novella by H. Ellison (q.v. under Fiction).

Features a mechanized Underworld. Discussed by J. Crow and R. Erlich, and by L. G. Heldreth in the articles cited for them under Drama Criticism. CAUTION: A notable feminist critic asserted in the presence of the main compiler of this Wiki, "Oh, Harlan [Ellison] is sexist, but the film is not" (quoting from memory) — but went on to note that she was definitely uncomfortable at a screening at which many of the male undergraduates in the audience called out aloud for the death of the female lead. Sexual and gender politics of BOY/DOG discussed by Joanna Russ, "A Boy and His Dog: The Final Solution," 1975, coll. To Write Like a Woman: Essays in Feminism and Science Fiction (Bloomington: Indiana UP, 1995) 65-76.
