ALIEN. Ridley Scott, dir. USA: 20th Century-Fox, 1979. Dan O'Bannon, script. Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett, story. H. R. Giger, design.[1]

The insectoid alien is aided by a robot passing for a human Science Officer and by the special program put into Mother, the ship's computer, by anonymous agents of the Company owning the spaceship. Note the increasingly threatening containment within the computerized (but cyberpunk Gothic) Nostromo herself. Novelized by A. D. Foster; see under Fiction. Discussed by V. Sobchack in Limits of Infinity/Screening Space (see Sobchack's Index for Chapter 4.) See also ALIENS (film) and SPACE FLIGHT.

Parodied in final sequence/act of "Great Space Roaster" episode of American Dad!, season 5, episode 18 (16 May 2010)[2][3]
