"Brown Betty." Fringe episode 2.19 (alt. count 2.20), Fox-TV, 29 April 2010.

Post-modern noir here, with musical numbers, within the frame of a story for a child. The episode mixes elements of periods in US history, esp. as they come through in US films, from the 1930s to the present. Relevant here is the mixing of technologies. Cf. and contrast such films as Tim Burton's BATMAN RETURNS (1992). As a side note, note that the episode appeared simultaneously with a series of car commercials in high-modern style, alluding to the elegance of the bygone days of the 20th century. "Brown Betty" was discussed robustly on the web, e.g., <http://watching-tv.ew.com/2010/04/30/fringe-season-2-episode-20/>, <http://www.imdb.com/news/ni2214695/>.
