There is one scene set in Professor Charles Xavier's telepathic-contact chamber — made more of in X-MEN 2 — q.v. for an image of the superimposition of the electronic, possibly cybernetic, and definitely electrical upon a human head, both presumably containing human thoughts and passions imaged surrounding him; the technology is oldfashioned (note dials), and dusty. More important are the Sentinels,[3] human-shaped robots that include Mutant DNA, giving them the superpowers of the various Mutants. The Sentinels also have the ability to detect Mutants, and, in the Sentinels' advanced forms, detect, and eliminate, phenotypically normal humans that will pass on the Mutant gene to be expressed in children and/or grandchildren.[4] Cf. and strongly contrast squid-like "sentinels" in THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS.
