The antagonist, Buddy Pine/Syndrome perfects “a savage tripod-like robot called the Omnidroid” — but eventually more spider-like than tripod[1] — by having it fight various superheroes he has hired.[2] Cf. and contrast the war-machine tripods in WAR OF THE WORLDS (2005). At the end of the film, in a kind of coda, the Incredibles/Parrs family go off to fight a newly arrived vaillain, the Underminder — who will reappear to begin INCREDIBLES 2, q.v.
